Being a tutor has helped me…
“Good job, keep it going.” That is what I usually say to my tutees when they do well.

Let me start from the beginning. I have been a tutor for the Coca-Cola Valued Youth Program for the past three years. Being in this program has helped me academically become more responsible, and it has helped me reach my goal and dream, which is to become a teacher.

Ever since I have been in the Coca-Cola Valued Youth Program, I have gotten all A’s in school. Before I was in the program, my grades weren’t so good, and I didn’t think much of school. Once I learned about the program and got in, I thought, I tutor the children because they need my help, and I want them to get good grades. Wouldn’t they want the same for me? Since I thought that I put my effort on my school and homework. Each time I get my report card and see that I got all A’s, I thank the program and the children because I know that in their eyes they see me as a role model.

Being in the program has helped me become more responsible. Whenever I get paid, I pay my cell phone bill. I also help pay bills around the house. With the rest of my check, I save it to buy things I might later need.

Finally, the program is helping me reach my goal and dream, which is to become a teacher. To me this program is a stepping stone to becoming a teacher. When I tutor the children, I feel like a real teacher. Hopefully when I grow up, my dream will be fully accomplished.

This program is one of the reasons I wake up and come to school every day. I would also recommend this program to everyone.
