Transitions to Teaching

Accelerated Teacher Certification

Earn a teaching certificate in 12 to 15 months while you are teaching and learning teaching skills.

Accelerated Certification is an Option
IDRA's alternative teacher certification programs can give you:

  • High-quality training and university coursework;
  • Payment of tuition and related expenses up to $3,000;
  • A paid teaching internships;
  • Mentoring and other new teacher support; and
  • Sustained training and professional development to help you succeed as a teacher.

Universities and schools in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Valley are participating in these programs for bilingual education and ESL teachers and for secondary math and science teachers. Eligible candidates must have bachelor’s degree.

There are two current transitions to teaching programs at IDRA to consider:

  • Transitions focuses on bilingual/ESL teachers
  • MASS focuses on secondary math and science teachers with ESL certification

Transitions and MASS are Transitions to Teaching programs funded through the U.S. Department of Education. They are operated through a partnership among the Intercultural Development Research Association, high-need school districts and universities.
