Coaching and Mentoring for Novice Teachers
A Train-the-Mentor Institute

Flier available in PDF.

This institute features a two-day session plus a one-day follow-up session to train school district mentors on the IDRA Coaching and Mentoring for Novice Teachers Model.

IDRA’s Coaching and Mentoring Novice Teachers Model is an approved Beginning Induction and Mentoring Program Provider under Texas Education Agency (HB-1)
http://www.tea.state.tx.us/HB1/TeaMen/.

This dynamic training can help mentors to:

  • Ease new teachers’ entry into education and support them during their first year.
  • Raise teacher retention rates.
  • Connect teachers with knowledgeable, caring experienced teachers.
  • Build faculty’s confidence, efficacy and success in serving diverse students.
  • Be a guide, advisor and trusted friend and a successful role model, counselor and co-teacher.

Mentors will be able to help new teachers navigate rough and still waters, build on teachers’ natural strengths, reflect on what works, and be partners for success.
