 In the fall of 2011, IDRA held a series of roundtables in collaboration with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Mexican American School Board Members Association (MASBA) and Texas Center for Educational Policy (TCEP).

Almost 300 Texans participated in these meetings held in San Antonio, Fort Worth, Alamo, El Paso and Houston. The Fort Worth session was held in conjunction with the Texas NAACP state convention with more than 100 participants, and the Houston roundtable was held in conjunction with the Texas LULAC quarterly leaders meeting.

In every gathering, participants have shared their concern for children whose schools face serious cuts. They have expressed their frustration with school funding policy. Each group is committed to work together and within their own networks to share information and resources. Participants have proposed their plans to spread the word, share their story, pass a resolution or mobilize others.

Save Texas Schools
This statewide coalition is dedicated preserving Texas schools. Several large rallys have been held recently. Visit their website to learn about upcoming events and to get additional resources.
