The Intercultural Development Research Association is an independent, non-profit organization, led by Celina Moreno, J.D. Our mission is to achieve equal educational opportunity for every child through strong public schools that prepare all students to access and succeed in college.
This is a paid internship, so we’re only looking for the best. This internship program will allow you to build a portfolio of real-life experiences for after graduation. You will work under the supervision of an award-winning accredited public relations professional.
Job Description
You will have opportunities to write, assist with social media management, design graphics, conduct research, participate in strategy sessions, and assist in the planning and execution of special events. Specifically, you will…
Gather information to produce compelling, explanatory and factual stories about the work being done across the organization.
Produce and copyedit well-written content for news releases, website content, program descriptions, brochures, etc., as needed.
Audit and update media distribution lists, including online research to identify relevant beat reporters’ names, emails, phone numbers
Research special topics as needed
Assist with production of photography and video projects as needed
Assist with event planning and execution as needed
Assist Director of Communications with departmental tasks as needed
Note: At this time, IDRA staff are working remotely. Hopefully, we will be back in person at some point this summer. Regardless, we are committed to our internship program. Applicants do not have to reside in the San Antonio area.
Experience and Qualifications
Must be college student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, mass communication, or related field. Recent graduates will be considered.
Must be willing to work 20-30 hours per week in the IDRA office. Some local travel may be necessary.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, and interpersonal skills required
Some writing, copy-editing experience.
Website and social media design, creation, management highly desirable.
Photography, video production and graphic design experience a plus
Adept in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Adept in InDesign, Photoshop, WordPress and/or video editing software/apps a big plus.
Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skills.
Work under tight deadlines and multi-task.
Must be organized and work well with constant priority changes.
Passion for learning with a “take charge” spirit.
Great listener/understands the power of internal communication.
Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.

Compensation: $14 per hour, up to 30 hours per week
