After being called a gadfly by a national reporter, IDRA embraced the label, defined as someone who rouses others from complacency. On occasion, IDRA presents a gadfly award to someone who annoys and arouses others from complacency in the face of dreams yet unfulfilled for children.
For IDRA’s 50th anniversary, IDRA President & CEO Celina Moreno, J.D., formally established the award as the Dr. María “Cuca” Robledo Montecel Gadfly Award for her continued dedication to IDRA and its mission. IDRA named Dolores Huerta as the first recipient of that award.
