Texas Legislative Education Equity Coalition
The Texas Legislative Education Equity Coalition (TLEEC) is a collaborative of more than 38 organizations and individuals with the mission to improve the quality of public education for all children, with a focus on racial equity.
IDRA first convened the coalition (originally called the Texas Latino Education Coalition) in 2001 to focus specifically on critical educational issues in Texas and improve the state of education for Latino students in public schools. In 2019, the coalition expanded and adopted a name change to reflect the goals of its diverse member organizations.
TLEEC advocates fair funding, teaching quality, high-quality curriculum and instructional practices, quality bilingual education, and enhanced college access and success.
Georgia Coalition for Education Justice
The Georgia Coalition for Education Justice is a collective of students, educators, parents and advocates dedicated to advancing education justice for all children across the state.
IDRA originally convened GCEJ in 2022 in an effort to fight classroom censorship policies (thus originally known as the Coalition Against Classroom Censorship). The coalition expanded its focus in 2023 to work more effectively for school safety and discipline, culturally-sustaining practices, and opportunity and access for English learners.
Members intentionally work to bring together diverse organizations and individuals who are directly impacted by education inequity. The coalition coordinates advocacy and seeks to center students, families and educators in education policy.
IDRA SEEN State Policy Collaborative
The IDRA SEEN State Policy Collaborative is a group of organizations dedicated to culturally-sustaining schooling across the U.S. South. The members connect to stay informed, share resources, and get support from advocates across the Southern region.
The coalition focuses on the U.S. South because of the persistent and shared challenges that limit access to equitable and excellent schools for all students.
Primary issues of the collaborative include school funding, ethnic studies, truthful teaching, immigrant education, English learner education, school discipline, an end to school policing, and support for local communities in changing education policy and practice.
