Our high schools lose more than one third of their students before graduation, and the cumulative impact of attrition affects every Texan. Most traditional dropout prevention efforts have not worked because most efforts inappropriately focus on student characteristics or focus on one element of a larger system. We must address systemic factors that lead to students dropping out. Communities and schools must work together to strengthen school holding power and ensure success for all students.

Also being released: “Quality Schools Action Framework,” developed by IDRA executive director, Dr. María “Cuca” Robledo Montecel, that gives tools for communities and schools to work together to strengthen school holding power and ensure success for all students.
