IDRA Regional Policy Consultant – Part-Time

IDRA is an independent, non-profit organization. Our mission is to achieve equal educational opportunity for every child through strong public schools that prepare all students to access and succeed in college. IDRA’s work focuses on issues that impact the education of all students, with special emphasis on students of color, students from families with low incomes, emergent bilingual students, and recent immigrant populations.

Consultants work closely with IDRA staff to develop and execute projects that will further IDRA’s mission.

Consultancy Description

The Regional Policy Consultant will help:

Research and develop policies related to culturally-sustaining curriculum and instruction in Georgia, including ethnic studies courses,
Build, a network of Georgia experts that focus on culturally-sustaining curriculum and instruction,
Research and develop model policy packages, using IDRA’s model policy template, on issues within IDRA’s policy priority areas that impact students across the U.S. South, and

Research and compile existing model policies on issues within IDRA’s policy priority areas that impact students across the U.S. South.

Experience and Qualifications

Ideal candidates must possess the following:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Ability to produce high-quality, thorough work
Ability to work independently and to function as part of a team
Knowledge of using office and technological equipment or capable of learning to do so
Self-motivation

Previous policy, advocacy, or community engagement experience is valuable.

Compensation & Term

The consultant will work up to 20 hours per week with compensation commensurate to work and academic experience. The consultant will work with IDRA staff to develop a project plan, including specific deliverables and timelines for completion.
