Georgia Coalition for Education Justice

GCEJ Logo 2023The Georgia Coalition for Education Justice is a collective of students, educators, parents and advocates dedicated to advancing education justice for all children across the state. We intentionally work to bring together diverse organizations and individuals that are directly impacted by education inequity and our work to coordinate advocacy at the state and local levels around education equity centers seeks to center students, families and educators in education policy.

The coalition originally convened by IDRA in 2022 in an effort to fight classroom censorship policies (thus originally known as the Coalition Against Classroom Censorship). The coalition expanded its focus in 2023 in recognition of the fact that to create a just education system in Georgia, we much focus our collective efforts on more than just censorship.

Thus, we focus on issues of school safety and discipline, culturally sustaining practices, and opportunity & access for multilingual learners.
