We’re excited for this summer’s virtual academy which is co-sponsored by Humanities Texas and UTSA’s Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Department, with the support of our invaluable community partners, IDRA and the Mexican American Civil Rights Institute – MACRI!
Created by UTSA MAS faculty in 2014 as part of the statewide movement to bring MAS into Texas public schools, the MAS Teachers’ Academy is a people-powered, teacher-scholar-community-led effort that provides educators with foundational content and curricular support to teach MAS in K-12 public schools. The academy also introduces teachers to Chicana/x/o Studies liberation and anti-oppression pedagogies and teaching/learning approaches that speak to MAS’ commitment to student empowerment, community self-determination, and social transformation.
**The academy is open to all K-12 educators.
Participants will receive Continuing Education/Professional Development credits.
