Teacher Perspectives of the Valued Youth Program – Podcast Episode 98 | Classnotes Podcast 98
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
Classnotes Podcast (November 14, 2011) It is not unusual to expect that teenagers who get the chance to become tutors are themselves highly successful, with top grades and awards. But the IDRA Valued Youth Partnership program demonstrates that amazing things happen when the tutors are students who are struggling, students with low grades, with poor attendance and with a record of disciplinary actions. Meet Ludi Ortega, a middle school teacher, who works with a group of such students. She shares stories of the dramatic changes she has seen in her own students through the Valued Youth Partnership program. Ludi is interviewed by Frances Guzmán, M.Ed., an IDRA education associate.
Note: In 2019, the program name changed from “IDRA Coca-Cola Valued Youth Program” to “IDRA Valued Youth Partnership.”
