Semillitas de aprendizaje is a unique bilingual (Spanish/English) set of early childhood materials by the Intercultural Development Research Association that is based on the art of storytelling.
The classroom set includes 10 Storybooks, 10 Big Books, 20 Cartitas (10 English, 10 Spanish), 15 math books and a teacher guide. Descriptions of each are below.

Storybooks - With rich vocabulary, each book tells its beautiful story in English and in Spanish separately. The stories feature children and other characters who discover new things like life in the country, learning about spiders, first aid kits, the seasons, geometric shapes at home, traditional beading, a dancing ostrich, counting critters, a circus dream and gold mining. The storybooks are complemented by the 10 Semillitas de aprendizaje™ Big Books and are designed for early childhood and primary grades. Big Books – This set of 10 beautifully-illustrated stories is available for $75 per set. Part of IDRA’s Semillitas de aprendizaje series, a unique bilingual (Spanish/English) set of early childhood materials that is based on the art of storytelling. Designed for literacy development with culturally-relevant materials for 3- and 4-year-old children. The Big Books also are available now through IDRA and through Amazon for $75 per set plus shipping.
Cartitas Series – Letters Home with Family Activities - A set of 20 letters (10 English, 10 Spanish) for teachers to send home for parents. Each letter has activities related to the Big Book stories. Available through IDRA and through Amazon in sets of 25 letters in English or Spanish for one of 10 units for $20 per set plus shipping.
Math Books – Set of 15 small books for classroom and home use (Spanish, English). The books feature photos of farm animals and focus on numeracy and social-emotional development. Each book includes basic concepts, questions and vocabulary. Available through IDRA and through Amazon for $100 per set plus shipping.
Teacher Guide – Contains 10 units to lead your students through the Semillitas de aprendizaje stories. Each unit has a set of classroom activities that include a morning song, storytelling, literacy connection with STEM explorations, center activities, phonemic awareness, writing, English transition, family connections and informal assessment. In addition, we have provided planning tools connected to knowledge, skill and concept objectives. Available now through IDRA and through Amazon for $150.
